About Big Creek Metal Works

I started welding when I was 14, and got seriously into it as a college student working for the campus Outdoor Department. We fabricated firepits, benches, and other items. After college I purchased a welder, torch, and plasma cutter. The first pieces I created were a couple of pine trees, followed by a bull elk. I was quite excited and proud of my first cutouts, and our line of metal art rapidly grew from there.

The name Big Creek Metal Works was chosen because of our family heritage. Grandpa Robert Routson was born in the Big Creek area of Idaho in 1916. He and his family mined in the Thunder Mountain area along Big Creek where their ranch was located.

I love the outdoors and enjoy working with metal, so this is the perfect opportunity for me to work with metal and at the same time be in the mountains--even if only in my mind and in my art.

Although the majority of my art is outdoor related, I am always up for a new challenge and look forward to hearing your ideas and questions. Send me an email and I will respond as soon as possible regarding your inquiry.
